Aryeh House School in Wales during World War II

Mark Negin

Mark Negin, recalls being evacuated to Wales during the War.

It might be of interest to you, that there was another Jewish prep school, a co-ed school called Aryeh House School, not as elite as Whittinghame College, and of the Anglo-Jewish orthodoxy of the United synagogue. I was a student there when it was evacuated to Wales during the war. I returned to Hove and remember attending services in Middle Street as well as being taken to concerts by the Halle orchestra, etc. at the Dome.

The address was, I believe, Upper Drive, Hove. The headmaster was Irish, graduate of Trinity College Dublin, by the name of Eliassoff(?).
